THE ISSUES

Our world is in crisis (economic, cultural, environmental and spiritual) and in need of leadership and inspiration. Throughout time, shamans have been the keepers of knowledge about the natural world, human health and our spiritual well-being: wisdom that has been passed down from one generation to the next for millennia. But their wealth of wisdom and very existence is now increasingly under threat from environmental destruction, political persecution and the unstoppable encroachment of the modern world.

Our film will address the environmental challenges and conflicts the Shamans and their people face: deforestation in Peru, water issues in Bali, air pollution in China, oil drilling in Altai, and the long history of their persecution and oppression and even violence: e.g. during the Soviet era of repression in Russia, and during the Cultural Revolution in China.
